WHAT ARE CHINESE HERBS USED FOR?
Chinese Herbs have been used for thousands of years for the treatment of a large variety of conditions. Unlike Western or Ayurvedic herbs, Chinese herbal formulas generally consist of around 6-12 herbs that work together to treat the person. They are commonly used for menstrual disorders, fertility, pain, sleep disturbances, anxiety, fatigue and more.
HOW DO YOU TAKE CHINESE HERBS?
The herbs come in a variety of forms. Decocting raw herbs tends to be the most effective way but is also more expensive and time consuming. Granulated herbs are typically what is prescribed. They are mixed with water and consumed. They are effective and the cost is reasonable. Pill form is also available for those that do not want the granules. Herbs also may be given topically for injuries or skin conditions.

You may hear about amazing things that different herbs or supplements can do. You may have some of the conditions advertised. Sometimes, that will be the right herb for you. However, herbs are most effective and safe when tailored to the individual. Because herbs are not monitored by the FDA, and are not studied as heavily as pharmaceuticals, information can be lacking. You may inadvertently consume an herb or supplement that reacts to a medication you are taking or negatively effects another condition that you have. A trained herbalist cannot only help select the correct herbs for you, but also has knowledge of any potentials for harm.
